Noise Wave

After civilization collapses on a post-apocalyptic Earth, nature reclaims the ruins of the cities. A survivor, Miu, follows a faint signal to an abandoned space communications station. Her intrusion is picked up on the monitors of a girl stranded aboard a wrecked spacecraft, and the two unexpectedly make contact — but the equipment powering up triggers a building collapse. Separated by the gulf between earth and space, they find a way to communicate through voice and hand-drawn sketches, working together to repair the launch equipment and fire a guiding beam back toward the stars. The escape pod launches successfully, but damaged wiring cuts the signal short. Miu drives to the crash site, only to find the pod holding nothing but the long-decayed remains of an astronaut. In her despair, the screen flickers back to life — the girl's digital face appears, revealing that she was never human to begin with.
